Tabila an IDP from Matoh has experienced hectic moments and tough times in the last 2 years since her father’s house destroyed in the fire caused by an unidentified gun men. This caused her displacement and it has affected her so much that she could TABILA being hard working, she has not given up because of what happened to her. She attended the tailoring training course to improve on her skills. She finally graduated and got employment UNIFORM MANUFACTURER company Mbangable now with her new employment company and she obtained her daily life basis.

NWANTI NADESH
NWANTI Age 20 years is an IDP from Kwakwa. She comes from a poor family. Her father is a farmer and mother is a housewife all of them relocated to Kumba after their houses were burned due to the on going crises in the south west and in the north west region. She completed the tailoring course. She had no idea of sewing and sewing machine. One day, she noticed the registration advertisement published by PHODEC. She filled appeared for the for the course of Sewing Machine Operator (SMO) and took admission for the session. During training, she learnt about stitching and making garments training on Business Management. After completion of the training, PHODEC her in getting a job in a Company(Dresses &Manufacturer), Now, she earns adequately and supports her family. She’s very thankful to and Manos Unidas for the training.she filled-up the form and appeared for the selection test for the course of Sewing Machine Operator (SMO) and admission for the session. During training, she learnt about stitching and making garments etc. She was also given training on Business Management. After completion of the training, PHODEC assisted her in getting a job in a Company – M/s S.A Tailors & Uniform Manufacturer), Now, she earns adequately and supports her She’s very thankful to PHODEC

During my displacement, I came to PHODEC Vocational Training Center to get certifications on Aluminium and Glass Fabrication. I am pleased with the results achieved, the knowledge I acquired is beyond comparison. My trainer, Mr Ebote Daniel, was very professional and he really made a difference for me. He help me right from the start by identifying my skill level and making correct course recommendations. I have been empowered with this new knowledge and experience. I feel comfortable with my new job acquired from the UNITY ALUMINIUM WORKS ENTERPRISE. BETAH he really made a difference for me. LENYA CLINTON
LENYA CLINTON, with his family, fled war and bombing, and settled in Kumba, with no home, no work. Living with a relative was the only choice left. Over the past years, he has struggled alot to provide a living for his family, due to lack of job opportunities in Kumba. But he never lost hope in improving his family’s livelihood, and he kept knocking all doors in search of work to earn money. Luckily, LENYA was nominated to join the Livelihood Skills for IDPs implemented by PHODEC with the support of MANOS .The young IDP chose to specialize in Aluminum and Glass Fabrication. LENYA graduated from the training program and became proficient in Aluminum and Glass Fabrication. He immediately started looking for work in the area where he is displaced to LENYA says, “Th training and finally got a job from COMPLEX COLTD I can fabricate Aluminum doors and windows, and do related glass work in my area. “Interventions to improve livelihoods and build capacities and skills of IDPs in a situation like the one we are living in South West and in the North West Region is the best solution and practical option to help IDPs become social actors able to work, earn money and provide for their families.


PLACEMENT AND EMPLOYMENT PROCESS
The project has given direct employment to 99 IDPs, contracts to 4trainers, 1cleaner and1 security guard. For them, the job opportunities have been great chance to sustain their families. PHODEC had in the courses of the project implementation held various consultative meetings with key private sectors’ representatives who were also invited during the launching event of the project and its key aim and objectives outlined. Therefore, before project start, PHODEC made commitment letter signed with the private sector/companies potential clients who promised to place the trainees that completed the course of the Tailoring, Aluminum and Glass Fabrication. Some of the major companies/institutions who promised to make job placement were: In Tailoring: JOYCE , MUMMY E BOUTIQUE, PREMIUM TAILOR SHOP, KELLASH DESIGNS HOME, ELEGANT LADIES SHOP, BEST TEXTILE, ADELLA FASHION KUMBA MAIN MARKET, LITTLE ROMA IMPORT & EXPORT, EST ELVIS ZOE, EST NUSCAM DOUALA, M & D MORDEN and PHODEC In Aluminum and Glass Fabrication:. PHODEC, AIRTEC, WESTVIEW GLASS AND ALUMINIUM, NICO AND SON ENTERPRISE, GENESES (ALUMINIUM), GLASS COMPLEX COLTD, EMMANUEL FABRICATION WORKS, SYSTEM ALUMINIUM AND GLASS, CHANEL IMPORT & EXPORT, AMACO VERRE CO LTD and UNITY ALUMINIUM WORKS ENTERPRISE. Therefore, these mentioned companies/institutions, 99 trainees have been placed. In Tailoring 51 girls were placed and in Aluminum and Glass Fabrication 48 boys. Completely new world full of opportunities had opened to them.


“After finishing my course in PHODEC Training Center, I started practicing my skills were I have been placed at GENESES ALUMINIUN ENTERPRISE based in Kumba. I have started my work in the fabrication of Aluminum and Glass windows and doors. First clients came to see me, but now I am receiving calls from people who are inviting me to go do their windows in their houses. So, now I am a mobilized Aluminum windows and doors fabricator! This has helped me to feed my child and I managed to buy a mattress. It is wonderful how life can change!” Tifang Santonic an IDP from Kwakwa

Pelagie earn 60,000 frs per month with her new job placement at MUMMY E BOUTIQUE. On top of the tailoring work she added a small business of selling clothes and food in the market after work. She also does her tailoring at home; she explains that it is convenient for her to monitor her business and in the area where she live, she receives customers who bring their clothes to her home.
